Tallulah's stage career began in New York with a walk-on part in "The Squab Farm" in 1919. A series of small parts in minor plays followed but it was not until she moved to England in 1923 that she found success on the stage. She created a sensation there and for the next eight years appeared in a steady stream of hits and misses. Later, when she resumed her stage career in New York, her successes were erratic but she did have three huge hits, "The Little Foxes", "The Skin of our Teeth" and "Private Lives".
